Grading Foreman

Major Role and Purpose

To ensure the overall success of any job or project assigned through efficient management of time, personnel and cost

Description of Duties

  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all federal, state, local and company safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality.
  • Assign and supervise daily activities of utility personnel in the installation of water, sewer, storm and rail
  • Coordinate and schedule trucks, equipment and materials to job site.
  • Call or electronically generate requests for blue stake markings before construction projects begin.
  • Conduct weekly tailgate safety meetings and enforce all safety policies and procedures (trenching, confined spaces)
  • Prepare and investigate reports of accident, injury and/or flood damage incidents.
  • Interview, select, train, correct and terminate employees as needed.
  • Upload crew time daily through HeavyJob
  • Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned.

Education

High School Diploma or GED required.  AA degree preferred.

Work Experience

Five (5) years plus of management experience.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Vision must be acceptable for day and night driving

Skills Required

  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of materials, methods and tools used in constructing, maintaining, and repairing water distribution, wastewater collection systems, and related structures
  • Knowledge of hazards of water distribution or wastewater collection work and safety measures to be observed, including trench safety, confined space entry, PPE, and disinfection procedures
  • Understand specs, blueprints, and grades as they apply to utility installation
  • Ability to work overtime including nights and weekends
