For the College Drive Waterline Project, Branscome excavated two large launch pits to allow a boring contractor to bore a 30” steel casing pipe under Interstate 664 and then push a 16” waterline through the casing. With this project, the city of Suffolk brought a waterline to an undeveloped area of land for future development. Through daily safety huddles and weekly toolbox talks, Branscome’s team managed the potentially high risks of the job. The crews made good decisions and worked safely to make this project a success for themselves, Branscome, and the city of Suffolk. The most challenging aspect of the job was installing the large, deep pits in such poor soil conditions. We are excited to see what the future holds for this new section of the city of Suffolk.
