Overlaid some years back, I-85 was higher than the shoulder at guardrail locations. Branscome worked with VDOT to repair the road deterioration of I-85, a well-traveled interstate highway. To resolve the issue of uneven shoulders, Branscome and VDOT decided the best method would be pulling up the guardrail and paving over existing shoulders. We milled the road first and then placed asphalt in lifts to give the road a smoother ride. Because of the intensely hard work and dedication of our crews, we finished the job a year ahead of schedule with no safety issues. The end result of the job was a smooth-riding road and continued good relations with a long term business partner.
